Transcription headsets are divided into two main groups. The first group is headsets designed to be used with your Personal Computer or work station whether in the office or at home. The second group is headsets designed to be used with a transcribe station that sits on your desk. It can be a tape transcriber or digital station that connects to a dictation system directly or by telephone.
Choosing the right replacement headset to fit your transcriber unit is easy. Just follow the three simple steps below to find just the right headset or maybe even discover one that you like better than your "old" one. 3.5 mm (1/8") Stereo Plug. This plug is found on all stereo headsets that are used with PC sound cards, portable stereo equipment etc. Sound is played on two channels a left and right. Will work with Macintosh computers.
PC USB Plug. This is the flat connector found on most personal computers in use today that use Microsoft Windows . USB headsets do not require that the computer have a sound card. This plug will also work with Macintosh computers.
3.5 mm (1/8") Straight Monaural. Found on most transcribe units. The right angle plug at the right may be substituted where clearance is not a problem.
3.5 mm (1/8") Right Angle Monaural. Found on many transcribe units. The straight plug at the left may be substituted in most applications.
3.5 mm (1/8") Twin Pin. This plug is an exclusive of Dictaphone and will be found on headsets used exclusively with Dictaphone transcribe units.
DIN 5 (There are Five pins inside) Found on units Manufactured by Norelco/Philips and some DVI (Digital Voice) manufactured by Philips.
