Files are missing after download with DPM Utility
If you have lost a file after download with the DPM Utility, there are a few steps that can be taken to locate the file.
First, check the Hold folder (C:\Program Files\DPM\Hold) to see if any files are contained within this folder.
On Windows Vista and Windows 7 the hold folder will be in a different location (C:\ProgramData\DPM\Hold).
This folder is the error folder for the DPM Utility. If the file was not able to be successfully sent to your destination, then the hold folder is where the file should have been sent.
If the files are not in the hold folder, then you can next check your destination and archive paths.
Follow the below steps to locate the destination path and archive path.
- Open the DPM Utility
- Click on File.
- Click on Configure automatic program options.
- Click on Edit Route.
- The path next to select file archive path is where the files are archived to.
- The path next to destination path is the location where the main copies of the files are sent
Check both the archive folder and the destination folder to see if either of them contain your missing file.
Also, make sure that all files did download successfully from that recorder.
If there was a corrupted file on the memory card, then the software may not have been able to download just that file.
Try opening the recorder through My Computer/Computer and open it as a removable disk to check this. From My Computer/Computer, the DPM will show up and can be open just as if you where opening a flash drive. From there, if there is a file still on the device, try to copy and paste that file from the DPM to a location on your computer.
If you know the name of the missing file, you can also run a search on your computer with that file name.
If you do not know the file name, then you can run a search using DSS as the search criteria for part of the filename.
Then arrange the results by date so you can more easily look through the dates that are relevant to your search.
