When using GearPlayer to monitor an ftp site for file download, you receive a Run-Time Error “53″ during the download. This error is caused by the “Use Safe Delete Options” in GearPlayer’s rule configuration.

To resolve this error in GearPlayer 3, select the Options button on the GearPlayer window. When the configuration window opens, select the File Transfer Control Tab. Next, select the Configure Auto Transfer Button. At the bottom of the Wizard Rule View window, select Options. Make sure that the option for “Delete files from FTP site after download is selected”, and then un-select the option for “Use Safe Delete Option(recommended)”.

To resolve this error in GearPlayer 4, select Tools, and then Options. Select the Directory/Transfers Tab, and then select the Configure Transfer Utility button. At the bottom of the Wizard Rule View window, select Options. Make sure that the option for “Delete files from FTP site after download is selected”, and then un-select the option for “Use Safe Delete Option(recommended)”.

This will delete the files from the ftp site with out any further messages regarding the Run-Time Error 53.
