By default GearPlayer looks in the New Audio folder that is set up when you first install it.

If you haven’t changed your default settings, save your files into “C:\Program Files\GearPlayer\New Audio.”

You do not have to save them in that specific location – you can save them into any folder you have designated for that purpose, you will just need to point your GearPlayer to look there. You can do this by going to your Options > General Path and File Definitions > Auto Directory Scan Path.
