If you receive this error when opening GearPlayer™, it means that a file inside the C:\Program Files\GearPlayer folder has either been modified or removed. GearPlayer is attempted to repair itself from the GearPlayer installation file. If the installation file is not in the same place where you last installed the program from, you get this error as a result.

Resolutions:

  1. Update to GearPlayer 4.1.2.0 or newer. This is the permanent solution since this error should no longer happen after you have update to GearPlayer 4.1.2.0 or higher.

  2. If you last installed GearPlayer 4 from your GearPlayer disk, you can repair the GearPlayer with your disk (or the installation file you last used).
    • Insert your GearPlayer installation disk into the computer.
    • From the error window, click the browse button, and select your CD drive, then the GP4.msi.
    • After selecting this, and clicking ok, the GearPlayer should be repaired.
  3. If you are not able to download the newest installation file, you can still open GearPlayer from the GearPlayer.exe as a temporary fix.
    • Open Computer/My Computer
    • Open the C drive.
    • Open Program Files
    • Open GearPlayer
    • Double click on the GearPlayer4.exe
