Below you will find some troubleshooting steps to go through if your foot pedal is not functioning within GearPlayer.

  • First, ensure you have a foot pedal that this compatible with GearPlayer.
  • Compatible USB pedals include the IN-USB-1, IN-USB-2, and CL-USB.

  • Step 1.
  • Did you plug the foot pedal in before or after you opened GearPlayer?
  • If you plugged the pedal in after opening GearPlayer, close GearPlayer and then open it back up.

  • Step 2.
  • Ensure GearPlayer is set to use a USB pedal in options.
  • In your GearPlayer 4 window, click on Tools>Options>Foot Pedal tab.
  • Select Tools and then Options

  • Ensure that USB is selected if you are using a USB pedal.

    Step 3.

    If USB is selected for your foot pedal choice, and the pedal is still not working follow the below steps:

  • In your GearPlayer 4 window, click on Tools>Options>Foot Pedal tab.
  • Select Tools and then Options

  • Ensure USB is selected and then press the ‘Test Selected Foot Pedal’ button.

  • If you get a message that says ‘Cannot find or open HID interface aborting,’ then the pedal is not being detected.

  • If the pedal is not detected go to step 4. If the pedal is detected skip to step 5.

  • Step 4.
  • If the pedal is not detected, you will need to try plugging the pedal into a different USB port.
  • You will want to plug the pedal directly into the computer and bypass any USB hub if you are using one.
  • If you had the pedal plugged into the front of the computer try moving it to one of the back USB ports.
  • After changing USB ports, close GearPlayer and then open it back up.

  • Step 5.
  • If the pedal is being detected, then a picture of a foot pedal should be displayed.

  • Then try pressing the different pedals(on the actual foot pedal) and you should see them light up red on the test utility screen. If these pedals do light up red, then the pedal is successfully sending signal to the computer.

    Step 6.
  • If the pedals do light up red, close the foot pedal communications window and change the foot pedal choice to ‘No Foot Pedal’ and click OK.
  • Then go back to Tools>Options>Foot Pedal tab and change the setting back to USB and click ok.

  • After this, try loading one of your files again and see if you can control the file with the foot pedal.
  • If the pedals do not light up red, then this indicates a hardware issue with either the USB port or the pedal itself.

  • Step 7.

    If the pedals do light up red in the test utility, but still do not respond in GearPlayer, try disabling User account control (on Vista and Windows 7) and then repeat step 7.

    Step 8.

    If you still do not have control of the file with the foot pedal at this point, click Tools>Options. If ‘Auto-play audio files’ is checked, try un-checking this option and click OK. Then try to control a file with the pedal again.
