How can I update the firmware on my Digital Pocket Memo?

To check the firmware version on your DPM:

  • Have the DPM in your hand and turned on.
  • Long-press the menu button on your DPM (press and hold for at 3 seconds.  It will initially enter the MENU - continue to hold the MENU button until the screen moves past the normal menu.)
  • Click the INFO button on the right smartkey twice.
  • The firmware version will be displayed on this screen on the fifth line down (VER: x.xx)
  • Click BACK to return to the main screen.

To update the firmware on your DPM:

  • First ensure that the DPM is turned on.
  • Make sure that your batteries are not low on power or that you are using a docking station with a power supply when you connect the DPM to the computer.
  • Open My Computer.
  • Connect the DPM to your computer.
  • You will see a removable disk or device with removable storage appear after you connect the DPM.  Make note of which drive letter this is.
  • Click the following link to go to the Philips website:   HERE
  • Under the topic MOBILE DICTATION, select Pocket Memo 9600 series.  Click the arrow to the right of this.
  • Firmware upgrade is the relevant search result.
  • You can see if there is a newer version of the firmware than what you have by comparing the version number in the firmware upgrade title on this screen to the version on your DPM.
  • Download the firmware file by clicking onto the .dpm file under download and save the file to the root of the memory card in the Digital Pocket Memo (this is the removable disk that previously showed up when connecting the DPM to the computer.)
  • Once the file has been copied to the Digital Pocket Memo, disconnect the unit from your computer. Do not switch off the Digital Pocket Memo - the upgrade will start automatically.

The display on the screen of your recorder will show:

U P D A T E
please wait

When the firmware upgrade has been completed the unit will return to the normal screen.
