1. Ensure the HASP key is plugged in and has a green light

2. Click on the "Start" button then Right click on "My Computer" and select "Manage" (some versions of Windows you might need to click on properties and then select the Device Manager tab)

3. On the left select "Device Manager" and on the right look for "Smart Dongle USB Security Key"  It should have a yellow exclamation point, or question mark. ***Note: The Smart Dongle may be found under Other Devices, or Universal Serial Bus Controllers.***

4. Right Click on it and select "Update Driver"

5. After selecting the update driver, a “Hardware Update Wizard” will be displayed. If you are asked if Windows can connect to Windows Update to search for drivers, check the “No, Not at this time option”, or if you are asked to install from a disk, select the “Install from a specific location (Advanced) Option”.  

6. Select  'Search for the best driver in these locations' button, and select 'Include this location in the search' check box.  By clicking on "Browse" button, you can point the path to windows system folder 'C:\windows\system32'  (Note: 'C:\windows\system or system32' for Windows 98 SE, ME, XP or  'C:\winnt\system32' for Windows 2000).  Click on the "Next" button to continue.

7. After you click on Finish, the drivers should be installed and you should be able to open the Gear Player without any prompting for the HASP key.
