Accentus Acquires 2 US-Based Companies Becoming One of the Largest Medical Document Management Service Providers in North America

Accentus gains significant market share and adds advanced speech recognition and speech understanding functionality to technology base.

OTTAWA, CANADA (Marketwire – Dec. 24,2010) — Accentus Inc. a leading provider of Integrated Medical Document Management Solutions to the Canadian healthcare industry today announced the acquisition of two US-based transcription companies; Florida-based ZyloMed, a leading provider of medical transcription services to the U.S. ambulatory healthcare market and Illinois-based Transolutions Inc., a medical transcription provider focused on the US acute care market which utilizes a proprietary software platform that integrates with next generation speech recognition and speech understanding technology.

The acquisitions were in the following areas:

Acute care services and advanced transcription technology

Transolutions is a technology-driven healthcare information company providing medical transcription products and services to acute care facilities, clinics, and surgery centres. Transolutions brings an established acute care client base and a strong technology focus. The acquisition adds the APEX information management system – enabled with an advanced speech recognition and speech understanding engine – to Accentus’ technology base, driving significant cost savings and workflow efficiencies. Transolutions’ President Michael Carnrite will continue to lead the US-based acute care services and Apex development teams.

Ambulatory care services

ZyloMed specializes in the creation and delivery of medical reports for the US ambulatory market and currently operates in over 35 states in the US with a large team of US-based transcriptionists. ZyloMed, a leader in the industry, has a strong footprint in the US ambulatory market and presents a significant growth opportunity for Accentus. ZyloMed President Susan Sumner, a key member of ZyloMed’s dynamic and experienced leadership team, will continue to lead the US-based ambulatory services team.

“We were looking to expand our service portfolio and to pursue new growth opportunities in areas that complemented our existing strengths,” said Stephen Rogers, Chief Executive Officer, Accentus Inc. “Each acquisition augments our ability to bring more comprehensive, flexible, and cost effective document management solutions to market, both in the United States and in Canada.”

These acquisitions further Accentus’ strategy to be a leading provider of Integrated Medical Document Management Solutions to the North American healthcare industry.
