Woman Creates A Chair That Allows Needy Pets To Sit By You While You Work

Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people have been working from home. It seems everyone has a home office these days and employers are allowing more flexibility when it comes to location.

For many people working from home, it allows them more time to spend with their pets. Naturally, our furry friends are so excited to have us home and don’t want to leave our side for one minute. While this is great, it can also be problematic.

It’s hard to focus on work, take a Zoom call, or type properly with a dog or cat sitting on your lap and demanding attention. Even if they’re being still and taking a nap, it’s hard then because moving might wake them. Someone who knows this all too well is Simone Giertz.

Giertz is a Swedish inventor and YouTuber, and rather than sit by while her dog pestered her with neediness and love, she decided to do something about it. Giertz created a desk chair for needy pets, so pets can comfortably sit by their owners while they work.

As she explained, “My dog would really prefer it if I turned myself into a dog bed. Since I’m not too keen on that project, I built her a chair instead.”

She first shared her concept on Twitter, saying, “I built a chair for needy pets that always want to sit next to you.”

Many people resonated with the concept and shared photos of themselves attempting to work from home with pets.

The chair has plenty of space for a small pet to curl up next to its owner. Giertz also shared the full process of creating the chair on YouTube.

The chair was first shared on May 30th, but some people speculate it could be an April Fools joke. It got such a positive response from the community, hopefully it was made in earnest!

What do you think of the chair for needy pets? Could you use one for your home office? Let us know!
